Prioritizing in Medicine - DFG research group FOR655

“Setting Priorities in Medicine: a theoretical and empirical analysis within the context of the German statutory health insurance“ is the first research project on priorities in the health care sector that is financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The research group FOR 655 started the first research period in 2007. In 2010, the second research period of three years was approved by the DFG.

In our research group, scientists from different academic disciplines (medicine, economics, law, psychology, philosophy and sociology) and scientific institutions in Germany are brought together. This interdisciplinary approach includes a variety of perspectives on the complex topic of setting priorities in medicine.

Our work is characterized by a close integration of theoretical and empirical perspectives on setting priorities in medicine. From an empirical point of view, for example, we explore and analyze preferences of several stakeholder groups, such as doctors, patients or the public in general.
